2018 has been a series of amazing reads. I have read so many great books by new and familiar authors. It was hard to narrow this list down to just ten books. I eventually decided to compromise and grouped books in the same series together. Technically this may make the list more than ten, but I think it counts. The books are not in a specific order. All of them received a five star review from me this year. This is not all of the five star fantasy books I read this year, but these are the ones that made the list. It was tough deciding.
Waiting on Wednesday is a series that is hosted by Breaking the Spine. Each Wednesday I will present a new book that I am waiting to be released. This is a way to help me to stay current on my favorite authors and to let you know what to expect in 2019 and beyond.
This week my Waiting on Wednesday book is Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs. This is the 11th book in the Mercy Thompson series, one of my favorite urban fantasy series. In addition to 11 books there is also a spin off series with quite a few books of it's own.
On one hand I am ready for Briggs to create something new. Either a new world or a new spin off series. Eleven books is a lot for a series and I am hoping that it will end on a high note and not after it becomes trite. With that being said, one of the main reasons I love this series is because there is not a set repeat pattern of the books. Mercy grows and changes along with the world around her. Which is why I both wait for the end of the series and anticipate the next release.
I am actually one book behind. I have yet to read book ten - Silence Fallen. I am also not current on the reviews. I tend to majorly bing read until each book falls into the next and I cannot single them out for reviews. This year I plan on catching up on the series as well as on my reviews. I have until May 7th when Storm Cursed releases.
