I went through and counted the books I have received from OwlCrate and I have been a subscriber for six months now. Yes, there was probably an easier way to determine this, but I liked looking at the books. While there have been boxes that I have not been as thrilled about, I have felt like I have had value in each box. I also have something that I love in each box. I plan to continue my OwlCrate subscription through 2019. This means many more unboxings this upcoming year.
December's box was absolutely amazing. I am honestly not sure how they managed to give such an amazing box for the price. The box contained a tote bag with a quote from Stephanie Garber's book Legendary. The quote reads "Gold shimmered no matter what, but few people could make darkness glitter the way he did." I admit that I have not read this book yet. It has been added to my list of want to reads though.
There was also a magnet that is based on the book The Night Circus. This is another series that is on my TBR list. However, without having read it I am not sure how the magnet scheme matches the book. Either way I really enjoyed receiving a magnet in the box. I love useful boxish items.
The box also included this beautiful candle that was inspired Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles. I actually own the first book of this series and have it to be read. Small progress, although this book is making me feel like I do not read anything.
Also included in the box is this amazing 2019 reading planner. This planner is uniquely created for avid readers. It has a monthly calendar followed by a reading list and book review notes. I have already used it so much. I have notes on all the books I have finished so that I can reference them when I go to catch up on all the reviews I did not write over the winter break. Be forewarned that you will see this planner in a lot of my photos this year. I plan on using it to help organize my blog more. I have it in addition to my paper planner and my digital work planner. I should probably turn that into an entire post.
As you have already seen, the book for December was Amber & Dusk. It was written by a debut author Lyra Selene and is about a girl who can create illusions and goes to seek her inheritance in the big city. The OwlCrate cover is purple based while the original cover is more brown and amber colored. Included in the box was an amber necklace that matched the main character's necklace.
The theme for January is out Magical Artifacts. Any idea what the book will be?

I am really enjoying the Owlcrate boxes. They are well worth their money, and are a nice surprise. It is almost like a reward for making it through another month. I have also read a lot of good books that I would not have otherwise. You can find out more about Owlcrate here.
My most used item, so far, has been this book cover. It reads "Books are a uniquely portable magic." I wasn't sure at first. Yet, I thought I would put it on the book I carry around in my purse. It is great. I do not have to worry about dinging up the book from just carrying it around. I have also put some papers, that I need to not be damage, with the book. Ironically, it was not large enough for one of the two books that were included. So, it will not work for everything. However, it is a nice edition. Before I signed up to Owlcrate there was another book cover, so hopefully I will have a small collection over time.
As advertised, there were two books in the box this month. The first is a Pride and Prejudice retelling, called Pride. I have not heard about this book, but I am excited to read it. It seems like a very good retelling, and a much different setting. It is also set in the neighborhood that the author grew up in, which should give it a more richer setting. Also included is Shadow of the Fox. I have had this on my radar to pick up. I really know nothing about it, I have just seen it gaining popularity. Besides the cover looks awesome. I was very excited to see this inside the box. Both books are high on my TBR - after I finish bing reading Goodreads finalists.
At the end of every box there is a mini magazine that tells more about the authors and the merchants. There is also a card showing next month's theme. Owlcrate's themes are pretty amazing. How can I not be excited by Rise from the Ashes?
I hope you enjoy this unboxing. What was your favorite item? If you have Owlcrate, what is your favorite part of receiving your box? If you do not, the check them out.
Last month I decided to try out OwlCrate in addition to PageHabit to see which box I would keep. I never ended up posting either unboxing to my blog. You can find them on my Instagram account instead.
OwlCrate won easily. Receiving the box of bookish goods - and a new book - fills me with joy. I hope you get as much joy seeing the unboxing.
This agate gemstone ring from GeoCentral is monstrously big. It is perfect for the royal who loves their jewelry big. The ring covers a good portion of your finger. It is gorgeous in a natural way (my favorite), but I will never wear it. I thought about putting it on my shelf to look at. Instead I decided to add it to my pile of Christmas presents. My daughter would love this ring.
Again, I have no use of this mirror. I do not even enjoy looking at myself in the mirror. Yet it is beautiful and will be going on my shelf. The mirror is inspired by The Belles, a book that has been on my TBR for a while now, and was desgined by Catarina Book Designs.
I love bookmarks and these magnetic clips created by Craftedvan will be well used. They are the perfect size!
This book tin is absolutely my favorite item in this entire box. Right now it is just holding my bookmarks, but will keep plotting until I decide what perfect treasures to keep inside. It is based off of The Cruel Prince, yet another book on my TBR list (I actually have it ready to read). It was designed by Stella Bookish Art. Isn't this tin amazing?
Ironic story: The oldest of my daughter's decided that she no longer wanted her bookshelf. It was just storing junk and I really wanted a new one so I agreed and acquired it from her. The top shelf was pretty banged up. It will be good for holding light items - you know like my new book tin and mirror. Looking at the bookshelf I thought it would be awesome if I got an item that would lay down and cover up the pant and dents on the shelf. Then I got this tea towel in the box. I was overjoyed. To make it even better it is a quote from Sarah J Maas - an author I have just started bing reading. How have I never read her before? Your guess is as good as mine. At least I am making up for it now. I think Owl Crate might just be mind readers.
I love the OwlCrate pins. They are pinned to my purse like I used to do in middle school and high school. It is perfect! The quote is also amazing. It is from Before She Ignights. The book just made it to my TBR. The artwork is stunning, I am not sure what side to hang up.
The grand reveal - the book is Grace and Fury. I had not heard of this book before. It looks interesting and the new cover is amazing. I have had to stop myself from opening it and reading it since I got it. I will get to soon - and use the matching bookmark. Perfect!
My OwlCrate boxes bring me a simple kind of joy. It is not so much about the stuff as much as there is someone in the world that gets me this much.
