I did not post my week in review yesterday. I spent the day hiking, or rather walking, with my kids. It was a lot of fun. The best part is we saw a lot of really cool things. I have been trying to get my kids to go hiking with me for about a year now. When my son suggested it I jumped at the chance. The hike turned out to be more of a short walk, but we kept walking and found some new spots. It is hard to find nature in southern California. Especially since we have lived in Colorado and Georgia where nature is right outside your front door.
I would not say that I am on a reading slump, however I am not in a reading rush. I have decided to work my way through one author at a time. I'm a fickle reader, so this may last, or it may not. I learned this year that I will never have read everything released in a year. At least reading one author leaves me feeling like I caught up to some regard. Then I only have to play catch up when they release something else.
My current author is Mark Lawrence. He seems to be everywhere. Instead of starting with his new series, I started with his Broken Earth trilogy. I am so torn. The series is so well written, but it is so clingy, and his description of females is kind of disgusting. The main character in the newest series is female, so I am thinking this at least changed. I think it would be worse if there were not legitimate reasons for what is going on. I mean I think part may be the author, but part is the character. It is not Clockwork Orange cringy though - so I keep reading away.
I am still trying to decide on who my next author will be. I am not giving it too much thought. I still have one more book left in this trilogy, plus another trilagy, and his newest series. I think there are two, maybe three books out in that series. So, plenty of reading left to do. Although it is almost Fall break. On one hand it is less work, but I also may read less because I will busy doing things with the kids. Although my teenagers still have quite time. For me this is reading time.
