I finished my January wrap-up (read about it here). While my reading month was good, last week was not. I think I needed a reading break.
I had started Six of Crows on last Monday. I figured I had plenty of time to finish it, as well as finish reading Amber & Dusk. I did neither. That is until Thursday - that last day of January - where I stayed up until I had Amber & Dusk finished. I am relieved that book is done. Those of you who can put a book down and walk away - I admire you! It would haunt me. Well unless the book was horribly bad. Amber & Dusk was not horribly bad - I just did not find it good.
I did also finish an audio book I was reading, Mirror Gate. I always have an audiobook going even if it is not part of my TBR. My current book is Becoming by Michelle Obama.
I think the reading break was good. On the First of February I picked up Legend: The Graphic Novel and finished it. I am not normally a graphic novel reader, so the change was nice. Even better, my children actually wanted to read my book! My oldest daughter already finished the first book. The other two are in line for it.
I also picked up The Bird and the Blade. I had no idea what this book was about, just that it was on my shelf and I was not too excited about it when I got it in a book box. It is another book that is not a normal read. It is a YA book set in the historical middle east. It is based loosely on history, with fictional liberty. I have been picking it up when I have free time and enjoying it.
I doubt I will get more than my reading list read this month. I have a lot of books that I want to read, but I need a bit of a break. If that changes then great. Otherwise, I think reading my 11 books on my monthly TBR is still pretty awesome. It does help that three of the books are graphic novels.
How is your reading going this month?
