I know I have not been posting more than my weekly wrap ups. Life happens, and it takes priority over hobbies such as this blog. I appreciate everyone who keeps stopping by and reading.
I feel like I have been sick all month. Not enough to stop life - because as a single parent of three kids it does not matter how sick I am that does not get to happen. However, I have felt just cruddy enough to be slowed down.
My reading has picked up a bit. Of the eleven books on my TBR I have now finished six of them. I am near the end of one. That leaves me four full books, and one partial book to finish before the end of the month. I think I will be able to pull it off even at my slow pace.
This week I finished Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I have yet to write the review, but this book was so good! It was ironic that I finished the book on valentines day, as it was probably the best love story science fiction book I have ever read. If you have not picked up this book, and like science fiction at all, then I recommend you read it. It will most defiantly be on my best books at the end of the year.
I also finished The Rose Society by Marie Lu. I like this book better than the first in the series, but it is still not my favorite by her. I am not much for dark fantasy. I also finished the last two graphic novels by Lu - Prodigy and Champion. They were fun reads, but I like the books better. I can't imagine I would even have liked the graphic novels without the context of the books. Although, I still go teary eyed at the end of Champion.
The best part of the graphic novels is that my children will read them. My oldest daughter is on the second book and my youngest is starting the first. It is nice being able to share my books with my children. I read so much YA you think I could do it more often, but my girls just are not readers.
I am currently reading Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. It is the first book of my bing reading for her. I loved the start of the book, but the more I read the less I love it. She changed characters who are narrating the book. The characters at the start of the book are all strong and intelligent. The characters right now are childlike. It put extra distance in the narration that I am not enjoying. I think this will have to be one of those books that I finish before I decide what I really think of it.
How has your reading week gone?
